LINE ART

One of the brightest manifestations of minimalism in print design, advertising and web design. Recently, line art has been used to create logos. Its peculiarity is to draw a logo with one or more curves and straight lines in one color scheme. Most often, the lines are used in black on a background of pastel colors.
In its original form of line art appeared in the Middle Ages. The first examples of works in this style were engravings. The art of the past may be called “line art” if you look only at the technique and not take into account the trend modifications, any “pencil” sketch can be considered as a line art style work.

RETRO AND VINTAGE

Today, using retro styles, designers are increasingly turning to modern retro. What is the peculiarity of this trend?
Modern retro focuses on the stylistics of the 70s-80s. In this design use images of popular in the second half of the last century technology and other attributes: photographic film, floppy disks, pagers, vinyl players and disks, audiocassettes, rockets. Also recognizable attribute of this era is pixel art.
The vintage style, unlike modern retro, looks more romantic. In addition, it has a large amount of “handmade”. By this expression is meant the fact that many vintage inscriptions have to be drawn by hand. Even with a huge selection of templates, handmade work stands out qualitatively in the design of vintage printing. In addition, vintage style prints are often supplemented with die-cutting and/or blind embossing.

GEOMETRIC SHAPES. POLYGONAL STYLE

A feature of the polygonal style is a simplification of realistic figures in the compositions through pointed geometric shapes.
At the same time, the image remains three-dimensional due to the play of contrasts and the gradual overlaying of layers.
The advantage of this style is that these simple figures fully convey the meaning behind them. This style is often used to create logos. Polygonal logos are very easy for perception, looks equally harmonious in bright color variations, as well as in muted tones.

NEGATIVE SPACE

Negative or negative space is often used to create a logo and branding. Skillful use of this style is already the key to interesting advertising. Negative space is convenient to use in order to emphasize the silhouette of the object, or to create an interesting composition.
In simple words, using the background, you create a logo without an outline, which at first glance resembles a familiar and clear object, but looking at the logo further, it becomes clear that it is composed of letters or numbers symbolizing the company name.
The surrounding space, rather than the object itself, forms interesting shapes from an artistic point of view. This is what is called the negative space of the logo.

Every customer wants to get a unique printed product. Accordingly, a good designer avoids stamps, clichés and hackneyed techniques as much as possible in his work. New trends in design appear very rarely. It would be more correct to say that outdated trends are modified and smoothly flow into new ones.
Clearly identify certain techniques and practices in design and call them “new” is almost impossible. But we can highlight the most popular trends today.
